I had lunch with a friend today and over mozzarella and tomato on foccacia we talked about our crazy friends. Because of course, WE are the normal ones. The conversation covered topics such as foursomes in Cuba, STDs, our own potential for procreation and society's pressure on us to do so. I am starting to feel the pressure to conform to the classic chain of events that characterize female socialization in America. I am supposed to get my college education, meet a fellow college guy, get married and begin birthing children as he pursues his career and I pursue my part time career, full-time mom job. Who does this anymore? When asked in high school where I thought I was going to be when I turned 25 I said "Not pregnant." and dammit, I meant it! So society can take their norms and shove them.

On another note- I just have to quote Joanna 'cause this is too funny. She text messages to me: If we can't run around naked in a state park, play on the jungle gym, and sport ya-ya headresses, all in spite of creepy guy, what are we fighting for?

(This is a new thing I stole from the Oklahoma boys: add "then what are we fighting for?" on to the end of damn near anything!)
