Notes from How to Work For an Idiot

- shareing info in a through, timely manner makes people feel included, respected and ackknowledged for their ability to contribute. Make open communication a priority and be receptive toward feedback.

-when you interrupt your employees' work to shift their efforts to a new tasks that diminishes the importance of what they're alredy doing. Every time you ask them to do something and then ask them to abandon that task they become increasingly cynical about the real importance of either task.

-there is a fine line between being engaged in the ongoing mission of the organization and micromanaging

-macromange by trailblazingand clearing a path through the bureaucratic jungle so your peole can be more productive

-sometimes flying into a righteously indignant rage just feels right, even when it's wrong

-we can most easliy recognize the problems in others we have in ourselves

-becoming obstinate and defiant produces nothing except increased frustration

-an effective way to control others is to play on their sense of unfairness

-you can'ta achieve happiness and contentment in your work if you beleive your life is a raw deal. Realizing that life is cyclical will make you more pleasant to be around.

-keeping people comfortable is the secret to happy and healty relationships

-you can't harbor resentment when you're focused on complimenting others. I don't want to work in an atmosphere of continuous conflict
