People want to be happy and all other things that they want are typically means to that end. Even when people forgo happiness in the moment they are usually using so in order to increase it's future yield.

Once we have an experience we cannot simply set it aside and see the world as we would have seen it had the experience never happend.

Not knowing what we're missing can mean that we're truly happy under the circumstances that would not allow us to be happy once we have experienced the missing thing. It does not mean that these who don't know what they're missing are less happy than those who have it.

The Week in Summary

I'm starting to resort to my old college coping mechanisms..lots of drinking and if I can get my hands on them..pills. Tramadol is the drug of choice lately, the codine rips my stomach up; I sell to you for good price.

Sarah her bro and I went out to dinner to one of our usual spots tonight.
The waitress brings me a hefe without me even having to ask-she knows what I like. We order dinner, she sees my empty glass and says "antes hefe?" I smile and say "nein, danke" (no thank you) I think my eyes must have said yes because she brought me another one anyway. Haha Even strangers can see how bad I need a fucking beer.

I came dangerously close to crying frustration tears at work. I was screaming and calling my higher "motherfuckers." I went off on one lazy Soldier: "When I tell you to answer the fucking phone you fucking do it. I don't have time for you to be fucking questioning me and whining!" Let's just say he did it. Haha We've got too much going on, it's wigging me out.

ME: Sometimes I wonder if you subconsciously sabotage your relationships when you realize that they aren't "the one" so you won't marry them.or they won't marry you. I know I do that shit. Like we've said before, we're getting to this age where everybody is getting married and having babies. Sometimes I freak and I think that that will never happen for me and I'm not even sure that's what I want. But I feel like I should want it.. I have those moments too where I daydream about myself griping about having to spend Christmas at the in-laws or something like that. I thought we were above convention J!
J: the sabotage is not subconscious. it's a perpetual digging of the exit...not that that really worked with the buttford. speaking of, we're going to an incubus concert wednesday and he tells me today that he broke up with his girlfriend, while also asking whether the hammerstein serves beer ... i'm going to be exhausted!

------------------------

I need some serious perspective right now. I think about my life in a civilian context sometimes and realize how insane it is. Like how I'm about to spend 60 days living in a tent with 13 guys (and I"M in charge), while freezing my ass off. Who the fuck does that?!

the "jack shack" which is an area of the tent cordoned off and adequately supplied with porn. We joked about ME suggesting to the guys that we create such an area in our tent and that I'd be utilizing the facility as well. I could not stop laughing.
Notes from How to Work For an Idiot

- shareing info in a through, timely manner makes people feel included, respected and ackknowledged for their ability to contribute. Make open communication a priority and be receptive toward feedback.

-when you interrupt your employees' work to shift their efforts to a new tasks that diminishes the importance of what they're alredy doing. Every time you ask them to do something and then ask them to abandon that task they become increasingly cynical about the real importance of either task.

-there is a fine line between being engaged in the ongoing mission of the organization and micromanaging

-macromange by trailblazingand clearing a path through the bureaucratic jungle so your peole can be more productive

-sometimes flying into a righteously indignant rage just feels right, even when it's wrong

-we can most easliy recognize the problems in others we have in ourselves

-becoming obstinate and defiant produces nothing except increased frustration

-an effective way to control others is to play on their sense of unfairness

-you can'ta achieve happiness and contentment in your work if you beleive your life is a raw deal. Realizing that life is cyclical will make you more pleasant to be around.

-keeping people comfortable is the secret to happy and healty relationships

-you can't harbor resentment when you're focused on complimenting others. I don't want to work in an atmosphere of continuous conflict

As far as Thanksgiving, stories abound. Molly was here for the past week and a half, so you can imagine the hurtin that put on my kidneys. Paola drove over and we spent Thanksgiving in Dachau, concentration camp, being truly thankful. We proceeded to the brauhaus in Munich and guzzled liters upon liters of beer. I literally sustained myself solely on beer and pretzels for two days (like in Mexi with chips and salsa). The waiter at the brauhaus had a thing for me “I drive porche” (hands me keys), Molly chimes in “She has a BMW!” and put his hand WAY too close to my chest. Then he looks at Paola’s tig ol bitties and says “plas-teek?” “Pamela Anderson?” Then snatches the “Porsche keys” from me and gives them to her. Later he brings us a free cognac shot, which felt more like punishment than special treatment.

We were toasted as we walked into the brauhaus by a group of guys who later sent their married French friend over to ask us to sit with them. Turns out they were a group of foreign military officers in town for training. Paola hooked up with the Brit, Molly with the Scotsman and I with the Belgian. The two French guys were married but very sweet and the Pole was obnoxiously drunk. We spent a lot of the night making fun of each other’s cultures. “You mean the French don’t laugh like “hol hol hol?” Brit: “The transport comes at half past seven.” Molly: “The bus comes at 730?” We couldn’t remember the Brit’s name so we’re naming all the stereotypical brit names…Nigel? Liam?
The “advice” I gave to Mike (lil bro) and his friends after drinking for 6 hours at his grad party went a little something like this: “Girls will do this *booby shake* and this *booty shake*, but the ones you want will do this *headbutt*” So Paola, Molly and I turned it into a song and dance to the tune of the Chicken Dance. “A little bit of this *booby shake* and a little bit of that *bootyshake* but make sure she does this *headbutt x 3*”

We were put in a 6 bed room with 2 guys. I teased the desk guy about it and he says “Oh you didn’t want to be with two guys?” Paola chimes in, “Oh she’s a slut, it’s exactly what she wanted!” The desk guy was beside himself at this point. So the American of these two guys proceeds to lock himself out in the hallway in the middle of the night in his underwear. There was a suspicious puddle in the hallway the morning after…

"I'd rather be a lesbian than a whore" went over very well with my dudes.

Nerdy jokes from work : "Did you see the SIZE of his PST? It's enormous; it's taking up most of his hard drive if ya know what I'm sayin"

"Hey sir can I grab your DELL?" "It sounds dirty when you say it like that"

We're very tight at work and I love it. We now call fat ppl "Mr Biscuits", it seems to fit very well.

SGT D is always singing some random song-usually in a high pitched screech. Now, with my bday coming up he keeps saying-or threatening, rather-that he's going to sing to me as my present. Every time I tell him to shut up he says "Well there goes your present!"

We have been exercising our computer nerd superiority yelling "Move!" at people when they mess around and try to fix things themselves.

I had "Too Much Time On My Hands" by STYX in my head today, which is ridiculous because it couldn't be farther from the truth.
